DO before you THINK...I mean...Wait.

Last night I put my puppy Winston away, and as I was walking back to the house, I noticed a green blob on the driveway. I thought it was a dog poop, but it seemed too smooth, so I looked a little closer. What do ya know, it was a slug! ( It actually looked somewhat similar to this picture, except it didn't have it's eyes poking out, they were hidden.)

A slimy, green, spotted, slug. It was about four inches long. Kinda big. I tend to get really fascinated with strange creatures. So of course I had to bring it inside, take a picture of it, and send it to Robby. I did so, and then decided to keep my little friend-ling in a plastic bowl on the kitchen table so that Robby could see it in person when I got home.

{I'm sure as my Mom is reading this she is probably remembering all the caterpillars I used to bring inside the house when I was little. Things haven't changed much, have they?}

So I went about the rest of my evening, and went to bed.

In the morning I got up as usual and got ready for work. I came into the kitchen and saw my plastic bowl on the kitchen table, and thought, "Oh ya! Slug!"

I looked into the bowl.

It was empty.

There were slime trails across the kitchen table...and slug-friend was no where to be seen. Hmm. I was a little anxious about it, but thought maybe Robby saw it when he came home that evening (or super early morning I guess you could call it), and let it free outside.

So after I knew Robby would be up and at it for the day, I text him.

ME: "So you didn't by chance take our slug outside when you came home last night, did you?"

ROBBY: "Um no...I had no idea it was inside, dear."

ME: "Oh...Yeah, I put it on the table in a bowl so that you could see it. And it's not there anymore...and there is slime on the table."

Then we had an intermission, because a repairman came to fix our fridge...it's had a problem. So a few minutes after the fridge-man got there, Robby text me again.

ROBBY: "Found the slug. It was under the fridge."

How lucky is that?? At least we know that it won't be crawling all over our faces at night. I'm also so glad that I have a husband who enjoys my enthusiasm for weird creatures because after that we had a conversation about how slimy and big it was. HAHA. We were meant to be. :)

Maybe next time I find a creature...I won't forget it and leave it in an open container somewhere in the house where it can free itself.

Lesson learned.
