I mowed the lawn this evening.
I also almost strangled my dog to death on accident as well.
Perfect way to kick off the weekend.
Winston used to be the best puppy ever. He used to like to follow me around everywhere. So, when we were doing things outside, like mowing the lawn, he would just follow me around.
Now Winston likes to wander the yard, the neighbors yard, and the busy road in front of our house, at his little hearts desire. It wouldn't be too much of a problem, but he suddenly becomes deaf when he's doing these things, and won't come to me when I'm frantically yelling at him to get out of the road. It's a problem.
This just wasn't working out, but I still wanted my puppy to hang out with me while I was doing things outside. So I got him a nice 40 ft dog line. It has been the best solution to our little problem, until today.
As I was mowing the lawn, Winston crossed in front of me with said dog line. It's like I couldn't stop myself. The lawn mower just kept on propelling itself right over that dog line. It sucked up the dog line, Winston screamed (or yelped I guess would be a better word), and I was finally able to let go of the throttle on the lawn mower.
At first I thought it had just scared Winston, and cut the line in half. Oh no. No no. I flipped over the lawn mower and not only was at least half of the line wrapped around it, completely intact, but also Winston's collar still attached to the end of the line. I nearly tackled my puppy to search for any signs of damage. He was indeed collar-less, but appeared to be fine otherwise. Happy-go-lucky Winston. I checked his collar and it was broken right at the plastic clip. The lawn mower pretty much ripped it off of him.
Thank goodness, otherwise I may have choked my dog to death. :(
We may have to rethink the dog line solution.
And THAT was my Friday evening.
Anyway.
Look at this guy. Isn't he the cutest?
Love my puppy.
